Program Request

The Newport Tree Conservancy is committed to connecting our community with trees, and that starts with environmental education for all ages. NTC’s experienced staff provides science-based, hands on programs for Newport’s K-12 students, as well as engaging programs for community groups ranging from summer camps to garden clubs. 

  • The Newport Tree Conservancy works with schools to provide classroom outreach (in person and virtual), field trips (walking-distance from school or in city parks), and after school programs. Trees and urban forestry are a great lens through which to learn about: 

    • Ecology

    • Soil science

    • Diversity of life forms

    • Climate change

    • Urban planning

    • Environmental justice

    • Watersheds

    • Seasonal changes

    We work with teachers’ curricular needs to design customized programs to reinforce or bolster classroom learning. Examples of customized school programs:

    • Weekly after school program series

    • Weekly outdoor learning labs

    • Combination of classroom discussions and walking field trips departing from school

    • Individual field trip for an entire grade

  • The Newport Tree Conservancy relies on collaborators and partnerships to meet our mission of fostering a healthy urban forest in Newport. We strive to deepen community connections with our urban forest through a variety of community programs. NTC will customize programs for groups including, but not limited to:

    • Summer camp field trips

    • Garden club lectures

    • Guided tree walks
